SISTAR19- 있다 없으니까 (Gone, Not Around Any Longer)

SISTAR19 COMEBACK AFTER ALMOST A YEAR AND A HALF (happy leprechaun dance)

You have no idea how obsessed I was with Ma Boy when it was released in May 2011. It was the only thing I played on my mp3 player for about a year. I absolutely love Sistar and their music (I'm not biased). So when I heard that Sistar19 was making a comeback, I flipped tables. I was so excited.

When I first heard the song, the beginning sound a lot like 'Alone'. The 'ooh ooh' part. Even the dance was similar but instead of their legs they danced the part with their hips, on the chair. I wasn't very satisfied with the song at first (maybe I was too distracted by how gorgeous Hyorin and Bora looked in the music video, legit explanation) but when I replayed it the second time, it grew on me. Although Bora had a really small part in the music video, her rap part of the song was probably my favourite. The ending of the song sounded a bit weird to me, like it was left hanging. After the dance break bit, Hyorin does her variations and the song just ends.
 Overall, I wasn't as satisfied with the music video or the song as I thought I would be. Ma Boy remains as the best Sistar19 song for me. However my mind changes really easily so I wouldn't be surprised if I start claiming this song to be the best song ever in about a week from now (very likely). This music video, however, did serve it's purpose; making me lose the little self-esteem I had in myself because Bora and Hyorin are drop dead gorgeous (did you see their legs and their curves?? dayuuuum).

I can wait to see this song being performed live on music shows!

Lyrics

Hangul

English

I didn’t know we’d break up this easily
The tears won’t stop
The toothbrush was here in my bathroom but not anymore
Your thick scent was here but not anymore
I want to tell you that I loved you but
My number would appear as unidentified on your phone

You were in the photo in my frame but not anymore

The hair you shed was here but not anymore
I walk the streets without thinking
And tears keep falling

Because you were here

but not anymore, I can’t breathe
Because you’re not next to me,
I can’t linger around you anymore
I am dying but right now,
you’re not here, not here, not here

Because you were here

but not anymore, I can’t smile
Because you’re not next to me,
I keep breaking down
I hate it – now I have no place to lean on

Why am I foolishly

withering every day?
Like a flower that lost its light,
I have lost you
I can only say that it hurts,
it hurts, it’s sad, by myself
Again tonight, I fall asleep as I cry

I should have gotten drunk, I hate myself

I want to fight but I can’t even fight anymore
Because you’re not here,
because you’re not here
I have nowhere to say this

Because you were here

but not anymore, I can’t breathe
Because you’re not next to me,
I can’t linger around you anymore
I am dying but right now,
you’re not here, not here, not here

Because you were here

but not anymore, I can’t smile
Because you’re not next to me,
I keep breaking down
I hate it – now I have no place to lean on

Because you’re, you’re, you’re not here

Come back

#1YearWithBAP

It's been a year since B.A.P (possibly the greatest rookie group of 2012) debuted. Anyone who knows me is aware of how much I adore B.A.P and their music. I was hooked ever since Bang Yongguk debuted first with Song Jieun, to his first solo, I Remember, to Bang & Zelo days and to the official debut of all six members (to be honest I actually thought B.A.P was only going to consist of three members, Yongguk, Zelo and Himchan).
Anyway, my favourite B.A.P era has to be Warrior. They were all blonde which resulted in trolls going "I like the blonde guy from B.A.P." I got chills from the pure awesome-ness of the music video. It came out around the time I was at PLKN. Which meant that I had to miss their ENTIRE PROMOTION CYCLE ON MUSIC SHOWS *sobs*.
Power era was a close second for me. Shirtless B.A.P in the music video, flailing about in water, enough said. It was during this era when B.A.P came down to Malaysia for a showcase. They were even having a fan sign session. It was only limited to a hundred people and I missed the chance of getting fan sign passes. But, being the persistent, stubborn Indian girl that I am, I kept calling the organising company and annoyed them until they caved and gave me fan sign passes (honestly the proudest moment of my life).
Seeing B.A.P that close was unbelievable. I got to high five all of them, saw Yongguk's gummy smile in front of me, hear Zelo speak English and had Daehyun say my name. And I got an autographed poster of course.

I could go on forever on how much I adore these dorks but I can't seem to put it all in words. All that comes out is just 'asdfghjkl;kjhgfdsasdfghjkl'.

방용국, 김힘찬, 정대현, 유영재, 문종업, 최준홍,
사랑해요, B.A.P!!

These nails are pretty special because even my dad, who used to scoff whenever I would show him my new nail art, said that my nails looked nice /a moment of silence to appreciate this historic event.

These were actually inspired by @followthatway on Instagram which is practically where I get 99.9% of my nail ideas from. Instagram, I mean. On a side note, I wonder if I can find any Big Bang Theory themed nails. Hmmmmm....

Addicted to The Big Bang Theory and Modern Family

Our whole universe was in a hot dense state, then nearly 14 billion years ago expansion started, wait...
the Earth began to cool, autotrophs began to drool,
Neanderthals developed tools, we built a wall
-we built the pyramids-
Math, Science, History,
unravelling the mysteries
that all started with the a big bang, BANG!

*inserts jazzy Modern Family theme music*

Korean dramas are completely different from American series. The story lines are cliché, the characters cry too much and there's only ONE PATHETIC KISS SCENE IN THE ENTIRE DRAMA. However, I end up enduring the entire drama for the smoking hot lead actors most of the time. (with the exception of Reply 1997 which is the best korean drama out there right now!!!)
I decided to take a break from my regular korean dramas and decided to try out series in my first language. So after I got my friend to teach me how to download torrents (technology confuses me), I downloaded the first two seasons of the Big Bang Theory and Modern Family and I've been hooked ever since.

The Big Bang Theory

What makes this series so great? Besides the fact that there's an Indian guy in it (I'm not racist). The series revolves around 4 nerds and their hot neighbour. Half the time I don't even get the jokes as they're science jokes most of the time. This is where I rely on the laughing audience to even realise it's a joke. Maybe it's the characters that make the show so great.

First, there's Penny who lives opposite Leonard and Sheldon. She's the only female in the cast. Next, there's Leonard Hofstadter (I had to Google his last name) who's in love with Penny. He's basically the nice guy who always finishes last. Then there's Howard Wolowitz, who's a Jew and a pervert and he lives with his mother (he reminds me of a member of the Beetles. It must be the hair). Then there's the indian dude, Rajesh Koothrappali. He can't speak to women at all unless he's drunk. Last but not least there's Sheldon Cooper who's possibly the smartest person of our generation, having gotten his Ph.D at the age of 16. He lives in the same apartment as Leonard. Sheldon is very egotistical, and he often brags about his smarts, although he lacks social skills. I personally found him extremely annoying in the first season but I guess his character is what gives the show it's charm. Watch the show and see for yourself.

Modern Family

This show is about three different families and their lives. These families always come together through some event every episode. I think it's necessary to explain how these families are related.

So, Jay gets remarried to Gloria who already has a son of her own named Manny from a previous marriage. So Jay, Gloria and Manny are the first family. Jay has two children of his own, Claire and Mitchell. Mitchell is gay and lives with his boyfriend Cameron. They adopted a Vietnamese baby and named her Lily thus making Mitchell, Cameron and Lily the second family. Jay's daughter Claire is married to Phil and they have three children together, Haley, Alex and Luke. They're the third family.

There's way too many things that makes the show great that it's impossible to list them all down. Go and watch it, that's all I have to say.

So these are the series I'm currently blowing my two week term break on. If you have any other great series that you think I should watch, let me know.

Pokeball manicure

Pokeball manicure! My university friend actually requested I do this for her and I finally got around to trying it out. Too cute, I had to try it on my nails first. I used normal red and white nail polish, tape to paint the partitions and a black nail pen. Super simple. I might even try other Pokemon themed nails in the future.

Kale Island

Isla was startled by the sudden scream that seemed to have come from her neighbour's house. She glanced out her bedroom window and saw her neighbour  Ruth, dancing about excitedly, waving a pink envelope in her hand. She looked up and caught Isla looking.
"Guess who's already gotten her invitation?" Ruth screamed and twirled around. Isla forced on a smile before closing her window. She threw herself on her bed, trying hard to hold back her tears. At the same her mother walked into the room.
"Did you hear?" she asked. "Your neighbour Ruth's gotten her invitation to Kale Island." Isla glared at her mother.
"Who hasn't heard? She probably woke up half the village with her screaming," she answered bitterly. Her mother let out a sigh and reached down to stroke Isla's hair.
"Don't worry Isla. Your..." she started to say. "Yes I know. My time will come," Isla finished quickly, annoyed. She pushed her mother's hand away. Isla's mother sighed again and quietly left the room.
Isla buried her face her pillow and screamed. When will my invitation to Kale Island come, she thought angrily.
 Kale Island is an island located at a great distance from the small country Isla lives in. The citizens of the country dreams of one day being able to go to Kale Island, to escape the drab lives that comes with living in the country. The reality of Kale Island differs for each individual. Isla, like every other citizen, has been anxious to visit Kale Island ever since she heard the stories her parents had told her about it. However, not just anyone is allowed to enter Kale Island. There is only two ways that one can gain access to Kale Island. The first method would be to wait for a random invitation that is given to one citizen every year. With a population of over 300,000 people, Isla's odds were zero to none. The second way is to build a ship, learn how to sail it and sail through the waters that separates Kale Island from the country. It would require a massive amount of time, effort and dedication which Isla has never bothered to invest.
Isla was afraid that her youth will run out before she gets a chance to see the island. There was nothing else that she craved more than an chance to live on Kale Island. She hoped and prayed every year to see a pink envelope in her mailbox but it never came. Isla sobbed into her pillow. She thought of giving up all hopes of receiving the invitation. She could settle down in the country comfortably, complying to a way of life she so strongly disliked.
Isla jumped off her bed, her heart sinking at the thought. She hastily dragged her hands all over her face, wiping away her tears. She then proceeded to the living room where her parents were talking.
"Mother, father," Isla began. Her parents responded by hurling thick and heavy textbooks at her. The books hit her square in the chest, knocking her out of breath.
"What are you doing?" she gasped. Her father smiled and continued to stack more books in her hands.
"These are manuals and guides on how to build and sail a ship," he explained, smiling. "We're going to help you build a ship to sail to Kale Island," her mother continued excitedly. Isla threw the books aside.
"I'm giving up," she declared. "I have no desire of going to Kale Island any more." Her parents exchanged glances and started to laugh.
"If you think we're going to let you give up after all we've been through in getting these manuals for you, think again," her father chortled. "This is impossible. It is going to take forever to build this ship," Isla complained.
"That maybe true but think about it. The possibility of the ship being finished eventually is more possible than an invitation ever arriving," her mother said, pulling Isla into a hug. "I've been telling you every year that your time will come. You can either wait for it to come or you can speed time up. All that's standing in your way is your commitment and dedication into building this ship." Isla pondered over her mother's words, acknowledging the truth in them.
That night, as Isla laid down to sleep, she glanced at the stack of books on her desk. "My time will come," she assured herself and her lips curled into a smile at the hopefulness of those words.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kale Island represents the dreams and goals we hope to achieve in the future. Do we wait for luck to give us the invitation to our dreams that might or might not come? Or do we build a ship and make a way to get to it ourselves?
Favourite manicures of 2012
When I was still in school, I used to crave the weekends because that were the only times I could paint my nails. Unfortunately, each nail design would only last a maximum of two days. Also, I didn't have all the pens, utensils and nail polishes that I do now. Overall, I was a happy, nail art obsessed little girl throughout the year. Here are some of my favourite manicures of last year.
1. Lightning nails
The lightning lines were drawn by free-hand, with the actual nail polish brush. This was the first time I was actually satisfied with my nail art to be honest.
2. Music french tips
The keyboard was actually drawn with a marker pen because I ran out of black nail polish. ^^
3. B.A.P nails
Nails I did especially for B.A.P's showcase in Malaysia. I wasn't entirely satisfied with the design. The only thing I liked about these nails was the bunny design on my thumb and actually turned out well. I could only draw it on my left thumb though.
4. Feathers and polka dots
Nails for Semester 1 at Nottingham. By far, my favourite design to date.
5. Halloween nails
Honestly wished I had done the skull design for all the fingers because it would have matched my Halloween costume.
6. Polka dots and bows
I always never expect my nail designs to turn out nice but they always do. Hmmm.
7. Pre-Christmas candy cane nails
It took a really long time to cut the tape pieces and taping them on my nails. It was worth it in the end.
8. Christmas nails
The theme my family and I went with was blue, hence the blue nails. The silver snowflake can't really be seen in the picture. I also love how the blue glitter compliments the black.
More nails to come...soon.
New Year's Resolution: To start a blog....again.
New year, new blog.
I can honestly say that university assignments and essays have made me realise how much I miss spontaneous and random writing. I've always wanted to keep a regular blog but I never used to have anything to write about. It would have just been daily rants on how much I hated school. However, now that I'm older and have left school, I'm more exposed to reality and there's a lot more to it than what I
Overview of what this blog will be about:
  • Nail art (how could I not?)
  • KPOP (It must be done...)
  • Stories and Poems (I have tons)
  • Rants on University Life (good stuff, I guarantee)
  • Anything and everything else that crosses my mind.
So, here's to a great blog that will most definitely be updated regularly.
